Creating the Future of Healthcare

We must go on offence and transform versus playing defence to sustain, if we are to solve for #GlobalHealth, #HealthEquity, and #HealthForAll

Across the world, national #healthcare systems — public, private, or mixed — are greying, fraying, delaying, and decaying. Healthcare is in crisis!

👩‍⚕️ We have a worldwide shortage of healthcare providers across every discipline, we can’t hire or retrain fast enough, not even close.

💰 The consumerization of health and #selfcare is coming regardless of present governance and legislative constraints and #ValueBasedHealthcare is the best answer to meet demands to measure and account for health spending as an investment that is generational and interdisciplinary.

Three unstoppable macro factors are accelerating and changing #GlobalHealth before our eyes:

1️⃣ Converging Technologies are making more diseases chronic or treatable/curable before symptoms even present … #PrecisionMedicine and #PrecisionPrevention is here and expanding;

2️⃣ The Four Realities of Modern Medicine are obliterating the sterile governance and zero-sum/short-termism power-debates that stakeholders (government, industry, providers, insurers, employer, patient groups, vendors) continue to recycle and live out like Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell in “Groundhog Day” (1993); and

3️⃣ The 5Bs of Healthcare Evolution (bench-to-bedside-to-bumper-to-bungalow-to-being) are making the #patient the point-of-care for 80% to 90% of their, read: yours and mine; lifetime healthcare needs. The walls are literally coming down in so many ways and health management is shifting from defence to offence, enabled by #AI, the #IoT, and an increasingly connected and capable-informed-and so engaged world of #patients.

Any national #HealthPolicy, #HealthEquity, or #GlobalHealth discussions that do not account for these “realities” do not fully serve this or future generations of #humanity.

As hockey legend Wayne Gretzky said, ⛸ to where the 🏒 is going … 🤔

Be well, be curious, be present, be kind.
